Property Operations and PMS: this is the forum for posting your ideas and comments on all aspects of hotel operations, from reservations to events to metrics and reports. You'll find a category here for each of the major topics in property management, and if you can't find the right category, please search or post to the Other category. Where we can, we'll move ideas around to group them as intuitively as possible for the product managers working on the PMS.

  1. Making a refund in Mews is easy and quick, however, when leaving notes as reason for refund, internal information that mean to be shared only with staff, it shows on the bills or invoice, leaving a very unprofessional image. Guests should not see what we write as notes.

  2. Booking number should be in all reports - Accounting ledger report and paymentreport, It is much easyer to remember at number instead of the spelling of a name.
    and it would be very usefull if you need to merge 2 reports

  3. We are desperately in need of a report that can show us our daily production by market segment. We should be able to extract a report to excel and manipulate the data to have a clear idea of what we are picking up for what dates and via what segment. This is a crucial part of any hotel who is looking to increase their revenues and mews is one of the few PMS systems i have ever worked with that does not have this basic report. All of the data is logged there and so why is there nothing we…

  4. As there may be many tasks created for your property, they can be difficult to keep track of when managing many aspects of your operations. For this reason, passing task deadlines should generate a notification for the task creator or any department members to which the task is assigned. After being sent, these pending notifications would only be dismissed when the task is fully completed. This implemented feature could help all members of your team stay more on schedule and would encourage task completion in line with all assigned deadlines.

  5. "In case a guest would like to be assigned a different room for their stay, it is easily changeable through the State tab of the reservation module. Using the assign drop-down, all rooms are visible. However, to improve the user experience, this list of spaces could be reduced to display only inspected and vacant rooms, making alternate space selection faster and easier."

  6. If there are certain rules such as a minimum stay of 5 nights. For a room, for example, two nights are free. It would be good if certain positions (management) could still make bookings and override these rule

  7. It should be possible to book TIP or expenses.
    Currently, Mews does not recognise this booking type, which means that we have to calculate everything manually and book via detours. This harbours great potential for error.

    Expense postings must be deducted directly from the cash register contents.
    Expenses should therefore not appear in the sales figures.

  8. It would be really great if we could quickly add notes to a booking from the timeline, in the side panel that opens when you click on a reservation.

    Now, to add a note you have to click once to view the details, once on Manage, then in Properties and scroll down to add notes.

  9. Option to minimalize a reservation (for example keep it in the right bottom of the timeline). It could allow you to continue with other tasks and than later on get back to the reservation/booking that you were working on. It could also be a reminder for yourself that you need to follow up on that certain reservation.

  10. Instead of overbooking, we use Inquired Reservations as a waiting list to optimise occupancy. It'd be great to get notified when a reservation is cancelled that there are inquired reservations for that date which can potentially now be confirmed.

  11. We currently have the problem, that we sell apartments (parent space) which consist of a living room and 2 bedrooms (child spaces).

    The two bedrooms/child spaces (Studio and Standard category) can be booked individually. This phenomenon should only come into play, when all other rooms of the same category are fully booked.

    Due to the automatic assignment, we sometimes have bookings in the child spaces which results in the apartment not being available and our staff have to change assignments themselves. Currently we have no option to exclude child spaces from the automatic assignment.

  12. It would be convenient to receive a notification if the occupancy reaches a certain percentage on a certain day. (e.g. if 60% OCC is reached on a certain day, you receive an email to notify you).

  13. IT BECOMES MORE CONFUSING WHILE SEARCHING A NO SHOW YOU NEED TO SEARCH THE CANCELLED RESERVATION AND IN DETAILS YOU GET THE NO SHOW BUT INSTEAD GIVE AN OPTION FOR DIRECT NO SHOW RESERVATION MUCH MORE EASY AND RELIABLE

  14. We would like to schedule an export of the Manager Report for our Directors.

    However, the only option is to export to a spreadsheet. Ideally they need to see a clean PDF version with the same simple formatting that we can see on the MEWs page.

    i.e. can we please have an export format in PDF for the Manager Report, that matches the same onscreen formatting in MEWS, which we can schedule to send automatically to a selected Export Target?

  15. Problem: When walk-ins asking for a breakdown of the rates per night we are not able to see this. We can only see the total price of the stay.

  16. Add possibility to restrict particular room numbers (best multiple), this tool would solve lack of allotment administration in Mews. Creating restriction per specifc rooms with maximum advance following release period and per specific rate plan following partners with allotment could work enough.

  17. At the moment there are only set intervals for scheduled reports. Ability to set your own date parameters will eliminate the need to manually run reports on daily basis.

  18. I'd like to disable the 'Check out with unbalanced bill' function for some users in my system. This is not possible yet and has to do with user rights/permissions.

  19. iDEAL Payment request
    It is also possible to send a business iDEAL Payment Request to your customers. You can do this by sending a link via various channels, including e-mail, SMS or WhatsApp. For example, the iDEAL Payment Request is used to let customers pay afterwards, to pay for digital invoices or to settle (monthly) subscription fees. Research has even shown that a digital invoice that contains a link for an iDEAL payment is paid on average three times as fast.

  20. think you need to work on that feature a bit so reception aware when a HOUSE USE room checks in, make sure there is a check in and check out solution – otherwise, how do we know if the members of staff is in the room or not???

    And also room changes should be allowed instead of having to delete a space block and create a new one.

    A House room use is a reservation like any other, the only difference is that it does not count into the inventory and revenue.
