Property Operations & PMS

Property Operations and PMS: this is the forum for posting your ideas and comments on all aspects of hotel operations, from reservations to events to metrics and reports. You'll find a category here for each of the major topics in property management, and if you can't find the right category, please search or post to the Other category. Where we can, we'll move ideas around to group them as intuitively as possible for the product managers working on the PMS.

Please keep in mind that there is a separate forum for topics specific to the operations of hotel chains and groups. Go to the Multi-property management forum for anything about portfolio management or rate, product, package and restriction functionality across multiple properties.

  1. Product Checklist could have a wider set of functions such as ability to post directly to Profiles without a current reservation. And ability to post to Spacetime Reservations (not only Guest)

  2. It would be helpful to have more charging rules or patterns for products.

Especially for long term bookings (still with a nightly rate) it can be necessary to add a product on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly pattern.

  3. Can we please create a feature to block room charges for so no one can add any unnecessary charges to rooms

Right now, we are only commenting on bookings that should be on a no post basis, but of course there is human error at one point or another and it is sometimes easy to miss the comment especially when there are multiple information on the booking, and we end up not getting paid for these services sometimes

  4. In the list of rates, we see
Name, Base rate, Type (private or public), Short name, External name, Enabled, Default.
It would be nice to have at least one extra column, to visualise the adjustment (absolute or relative) from the base rate. When there's a lot of rates to setup and check it can be time consuming to do those 3 clicks (rate, pricing, adjustment).

  5. Base Rates
-Ability to add Surcharge on the "Base Rate" via a Relative Value (%)
-Extend that relative adjustment to the Age Categories
-Extend that as well to the Dynamic Pricing Overriding functionality.

    Dependent Rates
    - Can we also consider an independent "Relative/Aboslute Dynamic Pricing Overriding" functionality as well for the dependent rates? Right now, they are highly dependable on the modifications made to the base rate.

  6. When we change prices and click enter, the next squared selected is the one in the right (same category for the next day). Nevertheless, normally when we change rates, we do so for an entire day. It will be much practical is the next square selected after clicking "Enter" is the one below what we have just changed. This way, we can swap from the first until the last category of a whole day and do it quicker than now.

  7. They is a example of the request of the customer. This functionality is available in Hotello and customers is looking to have the same in Mews. There is some examples:
    Example 1: I have a package for 3 nights:
    Night 1: Diner
Night 2: Breakfast, lunch (apply after midnight per day per person) and diner
Night 3: breakfast and lunch (apply after midnight per day per person)
The problem right now is all items applied every night. In Hotello, they was able to select in the configuration with specific night the product should applies

    Example 2:
    I have a package…

  8. If there are multiple public rates within the same rate group, MEWS will only display the cheapest option in the booking engine.

This causes issues for us for example when publishing our Christmas packages. They would both fall under the same rate group (PKG - Package incl. breakfast in this example), but since one package includes dinner and the other one a *****, only the cheaper ***** package will be shown to our guests.

Now we worked our way around it by creating an additional rate group for the dinner package, however this is causing us to create…

  9. We often change how a promotional rate is priced, sometimes off BAR, then we might change it to equal AAA, or some other rate from our RMS. Currently if I want to change the base rate being used, I have to delete the entire rate plan and rebuild a new one.

  10. Have a printable or Export button available on both the

    __ Bookable Service Product Page
    __ Rate Management Page

*Revenue Management: For both rate and product management, having an export/print option helps the properties keep detailed historical data of their products, a better cleanup, and easier financial analysis.

*Front Office: For potential Upsell purposes

  11. When creating a Hourly Service to sell hotel rooms during the day, we would like to have the possibility to add occupancy starting time and ending time to this service.

To be able to sell room during the day on different time slots, we're first going to set up the Hourly Service. We are then going to create Rate Plans on which we add "Closed to stay" Restrictions on selected hours.
With this setup I can sell my day rooms on different time slot and at different rates.

However this configuration does not allow us to set up the Occupancy…

  12. (1) When filtering out the Start and End date fields to search "applicable" or "created" interval, it should intuitively grey out dates past the start date and then prompt the user with future dates within the same calendar period (future in general). Users should not be expected to keep clicking on dates to select the desired dates.

    (2) Once you access a restriction, and edit it then you click "<=" to go back to the restriction page/dashboard. However, the dates previously selected have been reset to the current/default "applicable" window. The clients would like to not keep selecting the dates…

  13. It would be helpful if we can select the specific room types we need to assign to a specific rate plan. Currently, we just need to add more restrictions if a room type cannot be sold under a rate plan.

  15. Currently the system has two logic when you want to apply an exception to a restriction: merge with existing exceptions or replace all exceptions but sometimes it is behaving the same way.

For example: I want a rate to be available if people stay 3 nights or 7 nights (not 4, 5 o 6 as this will create availability gaps), the system does not allow you, when you try to put the second exception it replaces the first one. The solution I have been given its to create 2 different rates, but I cannot create a new rate every time…

  16. We have a specific rate created for group bookings " Special Group Discount". We want this rate to be showing on the booking engine as from f.e. min. 8 people or min. 8 rooms. In the rate restriction we can only add rules for a min. number of nights or min / max pricing. I think a lot of hotels etc could use this feature.

  17. Consider adding a Sorting filter where the rates can be grouped by Type, Voucher, or Segment when researching or managing rates. It would be helpful to also have these columns visible for that purpose.

Perhaps also add the possibility (later on) to apply bulk-modifications per these groupings.

  19. When you have derived (dependent) rates, it would be good if you can add different adjustments per room type.
For example to have 10% higher for a Single room, 15% higher for a Twin room, and so on. At the moment it is only possible to make absolute adjustments with same percentage/amount for all the room types.
