Property Operations & PMS

Property Operations and PMS: this is the forum for posting your ideas and comments on all aspects of hotel operations, from reservations to billing. You'll find a category here for each of the major topics in property management, and if you can't find the right category, please search or post to the Other category. Where we can, we'll move ideas around to group them as intuitively as possible for the product managers working on the PMS.

Please keep in mind that there is a separate forum for topics specific to the operations of hotel chains and groups. Go to the Multi-property management forum for anything about portfolio management or rate, product, package and restriction functionality across multiple properties.

  1. Simplify overview and restriction management: Managing restrictions is very time consuming and hard to keep an overview of, because a single restriction creates many lines per rate, rate group, room type or segment and editing/removing them one by one is inefficient and error prone. It would be great that a single restriction would create a single line on the overview when it is created, and in case it has to be changed or deleted, you can just access that line with the configuration you did when the restriction was created.

More filtering options: being able to create and edit restrictions…

  2. It would be great if invoices could combine the room stay and related package items into a single line when they are linked to the same date.

For example, for a “Bed & Breakfast” package, the accommodation and breakfast charges would appear grouped together on the invoice instead of being separated into different lines.

This functionality was previously available in Hotello and made invoices much clearer and easier to read for guests.

  3. When automatic no‑show cancellation is enabled, Mews currently cancels all no‑shows at 6:00 am on the day after arrival. This works well in most cases, but creates challenges for guests who have communicated a late arrival.

    Request:
Add a simple “Late Arrival” flag on a reservation that can be set by front desk agents without checking the guest in.

If a reservation is flagged as Late Arrival:
    - It should not be automatically cancelled as a no‑show
    - The reservation remains active until the guest arrives or is manually handled by staff
    - Normal no‑show rules continue to apply to…

  4. As a small hotel, we don’t always place product orders every day. As a result, we sometimes forget to check the product checklist. We would like the ability to receive a daily email at a configurable time (ex. 7 p.m. the day before) with the product checklist included directly in the body of the email. This would eliminate the need for multiple clicks to access the checklist and reduce the risk of missing product orders.

  5. We would like some form of temporary OTA isolation / reception‑only mode, where, for example:

    • Changes made by reception (room moves, removing blocks, emergency allocations), do NOT sync to OTAs until the mode is turned off.

    • A short, manual pause (e.g. 5–10 minutes) on OTA updates while operational changes are being made

    The Problem:

Currently, Mews only allows one type of room block. The 'Out of Order' block.

When running close to full occupancy, there could be some daily operational issues, unexpected maintenance problems, guest conflicts, or urgent relocations.

To manage these situations, we always keep at least one room…

  6. When marking a space as Out of Order, Mews currently provides no visibility into existing reservations that overlap with the OOO period. Property staff must manually search the timeline to identify affected bookings and reassign them one by one. This is time-consuming, particularly for larger properties, and leaves room for human error. A missed reservation can result in a guest being assigned to an unavailable room at check-in.

    Proposed Solution (tiered):

Display affected reservations. When a space is set to Out of Order, present a summary of all reservations on that space that fall within the selected OOO dates. This…

  7. Problem:
We use Out of Order (OOO) to manage rooms that are temporarily unavailable e.g. for repairs or renovations.
However, the default end time is set to midday, which makes it unclear when the room should be included in daily cleaning plans. In addition, the room can only be updated to “Clean” after 12:00, once the OOO period has ended.

This creates unnecessary confusion and limits flexibility in housekeeping operations—especially for teams working on mobile devices without access to adjust OOO blocks.

    Solution:
Allow setting a default end time for Out of Order e.g. midnight, so it is clear which…

  9. We would like to suggest an improvement to how products are added manually in Mews.

When a product is configured with timing: "reservation end", this should also apply when the product is added manually under the booking --> "Items".

Currently, manually added products default to the arrival date, which requires manual correction every time.

This would be especially useful for products such as:

    • Extra cleaning after pets
    • Pickup of additional items (e.g. linen, towels, baby chair, etc.)

These types of products should always be posted at the end of the stay, as the service is performed after departure.

  10. It would be great to be able to print a registration card only for the owner. If the reservation is at least for two people and there are already their names the printer automatically prints registration cards for both guests. This is a waste of paper and useless. Is there any update coming soon?

  11. Problem:
We have to export multiple reports each day to plan housekeeping. No single report gives us a full overview, so we need to combine different filters (e.g. arrival, no arrival, dirty, out of order) manually. This is timeconsuming and increases the risk of missing houses.

    Solution:
Allow selecting multiple statuses and filters (e.g. “Dirty” and “Out of Order” or "arrival" and "no arrival nor stayover") in one report, so we can work from a single, complete list.

  12. By default, Mews only moves the line items, but does not transfer the associated profile when items are moved within the same customer. We need to have the associated profile be copied to the new bill when moving the items

  13. In timeline to have space feature in the hovering/mouse over effect at the room number would be time saving.

We have a lot of different rooms and it would so great to just hover over the room number to see space features. Do we have stairs in that specific room, is it a newly renovated room, room in the garden house etc etc.

We have a lot of new staff that do not know the specifics for all the rooms and planning for arrivals this would be awesome.

  14. Currently it seems like the algorithm to recommend/decide price changes dominantly triggers for dates where a change in occupancy is detected.
Market shifts and pricing changes in the compset are less often reflected in pricing decisions, it seems. This can easily lead to pricing oneself out of the market.
Maybe this is a problem that small hotels are more seeing because a nominally small change in occupancy (eg. 3-4 rooms being booked for a date) are relatively large changes in occupancy (like 10-20% maybe), which probably is a strong signal for atomize to raise prices, but when at the same…

  16. Current design of the Mews Invoice is restrictive and brings up repetitive information. Allow customizable HTML code or an integration that allows users to have different design of the invoice for individual guest or groups by using the Mews API to pull the relevant information required

  17. Proposal: Automatic MLOS Restrictions Based on High-Demand Days in Atomize

I would like to propose a feature where Atomize (RMS by Mews) can automatically apply MLOS (Minimum Length of Stay) restrictions based on manually set predefined criteria, such as high-demand periods.

Currently, MLOS restrictions must be set up manually in the “Restrictions” section (e.g., Min LOS arrival or Min LOS through). This process can be time-consuming and less responsive during periods of rapidly changing demand.

    The proposal is:
Enable Atomize to detect high-demand situations (based on metrics like occupancy, pickup, or forecast) and automatically apply relevant MLOS restrictions according…

  18. I would like OTA-delivered Special Requests (stored in the reservation Properties tab) to be visible in reservation reports and in the Arrivals preview, so staff don’t miss guest-specific details. This is counter intuitive to the highly personalized service we strive for.
