Property Operations and PMS: this is the forum for posting your ideas and comments on all aspects of hotel operations, from reservations to events to metrics and reports. You'll find a category here for each of the major topics in property management, and if you can't find the right category, please search or post to the Other category. Where we can, we'll move ideas around to group them as intuitively as possible for the product managers working on the PMS.

  1. "Some employees may be a part of multiple departments and participate in multiple aspects of your operations. Currently in the system, however, it is not possible to add employees to multiple departments, which restricts their ability to be directly involved in some assignments or orders. With the option to add employees to multiple departments, this could eliminate some of this separation and allow your property to involve all the right people in all the right processes."

  2. The Mews guests in house report is an extremely useful tool to check all customer data for guests that are currently in house. This snapshot of customer data can help managers quickly gather important details, although some additional fields could be helpful for guest analysis as well. For example, customer classifications and customer nationality details could both provide further valuable insight for quick data analysis of customers.

  7. Our occupancy and availability reports provide an overview of crucial data, which can help properties plan and strategize for future rate pricing. Adding an extra tab for revenue totals in the occupancy export could contribute even more valuable data that could be used for planning. Comparing totals per day per space type could greatly improve reporting opportunities for all properties and revenue managers.

  8. Competitor rates are very important as revenue managers consider how to set pricing for upcoming months. Improvement of scraped data could help with management processes as competitor pricing could be visible directly from the Rate Management Screen in Mews.

"If a reservation needs to be canceled, this can easily be done within the reservation module, however, it is not clear which cancellation policy may apply to the reservation at the time of cancellation. For this reason, displaying cancellation policies within the reservation module could help create clarity as it will be clearly visible before and during reservation management."

    As group reservations often appear together on the Timeline, there is not currently an efficient solution to relocate all of them once. An additional Timeline feature could enable moving all group reservations to another block simultaneously.

  14. When orders are placed in Mews, there are often notifications sent for confirmation. However, when orders are canceled, it is more difficult to keep track of this lost revenue. Therefore, when orders are canceled, introduction of a notification e-mail could help properties stay more informed as detail of each cancellation would be available for future statistics and analysis.

  15. Group bookings can complicate payments, especially if all bookings are being paid for by a single party. Adding the capability to pay deposits for the group as a whole could provide a solution, as this could simplify the payment process for many business travelers or any other group travelers.

  17. "As service orders are created, sometimes there are multiple items included in one ticket. Currently, there is no indication of total cost for multiple-item orders, however adding this piece of information could help keep users informed before anything is finalized."

  20. The Mews Reservation report is one of the most flexible reports in the system, considering the number of items available for data comparison. While the report is in 'Totals' mode, the addition of a column for 'average length of stay' could provide another very useful criteria for future evaluation and planning.
