Property Operations and PMS: this is the forum for posting your ideas and comments on all aspects of hotel operations, from reservations to billing. You'll find a category here for each of the major topics in property management, and if you can't find the right category, please search or post to the Other category. Where we can, we'll move ideas around to group them as intuitively as possible for the product managers working on the PMS.

  1. Transfer extras, as for example lobby bar items from one room to another, should be possible to search for room numbers, instead of names / mailadresses. A transfer of items goes faster and smoother. For example are group bookings from OTAs not stated as a group in mews and cant be merged. So when group leader / guest wants to pay for all, but everyone in the grouphas posted items individually in the rooms, that is not easy.

  3. It would be nice to have the name of the employee who left a note on the reservation, This way is easier for departments to communicate. Since everyone needs to login with their own credential Mews should display who wrote the note. This will be a helpful tool for management to follow up with the person who's left a specific note on reservation. (e.g. guest complained about noise, the manager will be able to follow up with the receptionist who left the note- for more details.)

  4. When we want to give items complimentary to our guests it is a lot of work for FO to do this. You need to add and delete the item, but this shows very strange on the bill.

    For example we offer turndown service with cognac and cheese. In order to have a complete picture for costs we need to add this on the bill and delete it again. It is a bit strange if you see 1 cognac in plus and 1 cognac in minus, the same for the cheeses. We also provide complimentary minibar so now we need to…

  5. It would be great that we could set a ring/bell signal for some urgent tasks, like for: Late check out, wake-up call, any other urgent task. So you hear that something urgent needs to be done, also when you do not look at the desktop screen.

  8. Being able to run a report on all restrictions whether currently in place or historic / deleted would be useful to be able to see which team member placed a restriction, when it was placed for and which rate plan would be useful for when pulling together a case study where you need to show the historic data.

  9. It would be great if tasks and rooms could be assigned to housekeepers with one action. Instead of switching between "Space Status" page and "Tasks" page.

  10. On the reservation screen, if the reservation is not saved (guests changed his mind for a reason) I want to be able to enter a turnaway reason: Price too high, room type not available...

We need to have the option to can mark the reservations for the next days as ''ready to check in'' so we know that there is nothing else to do with this reservations in terms of testing the credit card, or whatever is needed to do with the reservation, or mark the reservation as ''incidence'' if there is something that needs to be done on that booking.

  12. As for hostel, it would be great to have each bed counted as 1 space, so that total space amount reflects the exact amount of beds.
    We have an option to book the whole room, but also single beds in dormitory.
    Currently, every room and every bed counts as 1 space.
    It is confusing as for now 8-beds dormitory is counted as 9 spaces (8 beds as 8 spaces + the whole room as a separate space)!

    Furthermore, changing the dorm status (dirty->clean->inspected) does not affect the status of beds, we have change the status of every single bed one…

  13. Would be nice to be able to create rate restrictions on a specific space category (ex : minimum stay of 2 nights on the space category **) but that the general minimum stays restrictions of 4 nights on all properties still apply. It will help to do some revenue management A/B test without breaking the general restrictions or creating dozens of restrictions.
    Could be maybe managed :
    - by being able to select spaces categories by ticking some boxes (such as the 'Days' criteria works in restrictions, where you are able to select/deselect days in restrictions).

  14. In case the cleaning service is outsourced, the current configuration of MEWS gives certain problems, even configuring the users with only housekeeping permissions:

    In App Commander:
    - It does not allow the external cleaning manager to assign spaces to his employees
    - You can access all kinds of information about the tasks, not just those of the cleaning department

    On Web Commander:
    - It allows you to see information about guest reservations (name, price, commissions...)

    It would be very useful to solve these issues so that it is really a useful application that can be used in case the service…

  19. make it easy for house keeper by just giving data the check out or the stay which makes them feel more comfortable and the paper looks nice and clean as housekeepers do not need the name of the guest.

  20. At the moment: it is only possible to charge 1 night for accommodation automatically. It is not possible to charge the products for just the first night only, when you have products with a reservation, it will charge all of them. So a great new feature with be to automatically charge the products of the first night instead of all the products
