3. Dynamic slots for check-in and check-out times and their monetization

   Posted by one of our clients:

   Currently hotels have fixed slots for check-in and check-out times. Obviously guests can sometimes make use of early check-in or late check-out services at an extra cost. So far this has been the smartest and most flexible way of managing the demand for different arrival and departure times. This requires a lot of manual interference from front desk teams, who need to manage the inventory, add additional items on the bill and have to manually approve or reject the early check-in or late departure.

   What I am looking for is a PMS and booking engine that allows me to offer different arrival time and departure time slots, based on a fixed price or percentage basis that can affect the base rate of that specific night both in a positive (guest pays more for each hour extra) or negative way (guests gets back money for every hour they need the room less than the given standard time). After the final price has been calculated and time slots are confirmed the reservation is pushed in to the PMS with the correct interval and adjusted price.

   I believe this is the best possible way of making the direct sales channel more interesting and competitive by offering a level of service and freedom to the guest OTA's are not able to match yet. I also believe this can radically change the way we manage our inventory and has the potential of increasing the room revenue by a significant amount.

4. Clearly show when a group has been split into different rooms on the timeline

   It would be SO useful if any group reservation that has been split into different rooms could be signalled on the timeline either by a symbol (such as the current upgraded, female traveller and return guest symbols) or by an on-screen prompt that notifies you that they are currently in separate rooms.

7. Failed automatic settlement will do a cancellation posting on the billing

   If the automatic settlement fails for one reservations for whatever reason, it would be great to have an automatic posting of cancellation fee on the billing.

10. Automatically recalculate all per-person product charges on top of the original nightly rate when adjusting guest count

    Description:
    Currently, when adjusting the number of guests in a reservation, Mews either:

    Keeps the total price unchanged (with "Keep old price" ticked), deducting additional product charges (e.g., city tax, breakfast, or other per-person fees) from the accommodation rate—distorting the original pricing structure.
    Recalculates the total price (with "Keep old price" unticked), updating the room rate to the current pricing, which can lead to unjustified price increases for guests if rates have changed since booking.

    The Problem:
    There is no automated way to:

    Preserve the original nightly rate (as agreed upon at booking).
    Recalculate and add all per-person product charges (e.g., city tax, breakfast, extra bed fees) on top of the existing total—forcing hotels to manually create adjustment products, which is inefficient and error-prone.

    This issue applies to every product billed per person (per night), not just city tax.

    Desired Solution:
    Introduce a third option in Mews that:

    Locks the original nightly rate (as booked by the guest).
    Automatically recalculates and adds all per-person product charges (city tax, breakfast, etc.) on top of the existing total, ensuring:

    Fairness: Guests only pay for additional services (e.g., extra city tax, breakfast), not an unexpected room rate increase.
    Transparency: Clear, itemized pricing that’s easy to explain.
    Efficiency: No manual adjustments needed, reducing errors and saving time.

    Example:

    Original booking: 1 person, 100€ nightly rate + 8.25€ city tax = 108.25€ total.
    Guest arrives with 2 people.
    Ideal outcome: 100€ nightly rate (unchanged) + 2× city tax (16.50€) + any other per-person fees = 100€ + [sum of recalculated per-person products] total.

    Why This Matters:
    ✅ Guest satisfaction: Avoids unexpected rate hikes while ensuring accurate billing for additional services.
    ✅ Operational efficiency: Eliminates manual workarounds (e.g., creating "adjustment" products).
    ✅ Scalability: Works for all per-person products, not just city tax.

    Use Case:
    This would benefit hotels, hostels, and serviced apartments where per-person charges (taxes, meals, amenities) are common but the nightly rate should remain fixed as originally booked.

12. Automatically suggest also emails of associated profiles when sending bill/invoice via email

    Currently, when sending an invoice/bill via email for a company owned bill only the company’s invoicing email is automatically suggested as a recipient. However, most of the time the guest (associate profile) should receive the bill as they have to file it with their travel management to get reimbursed.
    Hence, the email of the guest needs to be retrieved manually each time from the guest profile and copied back into the send bill/invoice form. This delays the checkout process unnecessarily!
    Suggestion: automatically suggest the associated profile’s email as a potential recipient in addition to the bill owner’s email when sending invoices/bills.

    As one of the individual permissions, give the option to restrict exporting reports. With the current phishing attempts it is very important to limit who can export reservations reports.

15. Package with Items on specific nights

    They is a example of the request of the customer. This functionality is available in Hotello and customers is looking to have the same in Mews. There is some examples:
    Example 1: I have a package for 3 nights:
    Night 1: Diner
    Night 2: Breakfast, lunch (apply after midnight per day per person) and diner
    Night 3: breakfast and lunch (apply after midnight per day per person)
    The problem right now is all items applied every night. In Hotello, they was able to select in the configuration with specific night the product should applies

    Example 2:

16. Flexible base rate dependencies / nested base rate dependencies

    Currently when a rate is setup as based upon another rate (base rate) it is only possible to setup one fixed adjustment. However, since we offer rates with and without breakfast, occupancy based adjustments need to be different between rates with and without breakfast (for example).

    Wouldn’t a setup option be nice that allows to not derive all room / occupancy prices from the base rate, but only derive the base rate by a certain adjustment and setup the occupancy adjustments and room type adjustments.

    So like:

    Base rate: xyz-Rate (← the one the new rate is derived from)

    Options:

    A: derive only base rate (room type and occupancy adjustments can be set in the derived rate, just as in a normal rate, only base rate itself cannot be set manually)
    B: derive base rate and room rates (only occupancy based adjustment can be set in the derived rate, base rate and relations of rates for room types is derived from base rate)
    C: derive all rates (the currently only available option - only fixed adjustments for all prices based on base rate)
    

    That would allow properties with varying meal-plan options included in the rate to maintain only ONE leading base rate and derive all other rates automatically once setup!

    What are your thoughts?
    As there are some developments going on for rate setup (cancellation policies), maybe that would fit to the topic ;-)

    if I am completely off, and there is a way to achive that now, let me know - I am ready to learn new tricks ;-)

    PS: I would like to add, that I titled it nested rate dependencies, because I first thought that it would be an approach to nest rates like this
    level 0: base rate with breakfast, flexible
    → Level 1: derived rate without breakfast, flexible (base rate only derived, occupancy adjustment different from base rate, option A)

               → Level 2: secondary (based on Level 1) derived rate without breakfast, non-refundable, fixed adjustment (option C)

17. Searchable fields for companies

    Today we only have 2 searchable options for companies. It is the name and the External Identifier.

    It would be great if we have more fields to search for in the searchbar i.e. phone number / e-mail address / fiscal information.

    When the company profile is getting more and more attention with company billing and such it would be easy to implement a couple of more fields so it will be easier to get to the profiles.

20. Manager Report to include Market Segment Data Day by Day

    Currently, the Mews Manager Report provides day by day revenue and basic statistics. Group by Accounting Category perfect. However, it would be great to add another filter to be able to see a complete breakdown of Occupancy %, Room Revenue by Market Segment including Rooms Occupied, ADR, Room Revenue, Number of Guests all in one report.

    This filter currently exists in the Reservations Report. This is extremely helpful to see this complete detail on one report rather than have to go to another report to find the detail. As it exists now, Room Statistics and Revenue are Totals only. Save times.
