Property Operations and PMS: this is the forum for posting your ideas and comments on all aspects of hotel operations, from reservations to events to metrics and reports. You'll find a category here for each of the major topics in property management, and if you can't find the right category, please search or post to the Other category. Where we can, we'll move ideas around to group them as intuitively as possible for the product managers working on the PMS.

Please keep in mind that there is a separate forum for topics specific to the operations of hotel chains and groups. Go to the Multi-property management forum for anything about portfolio management or rate, product, package and restriction functionality across multiple properties.

  1. Sometimes reporting issues for repair can be difficult to describe to your maintenance teams. However,we all know that pictures are worth a thousand words. Therefore,for clarification, adding photos to your Space Status report could help all departments communicate more efficiently, as you can report problems more accurately using visual cues.

  5. The Mews Reservation report is one of the most flexible reports in the system, considering the number of items available for data comparison. While the report is in 'Totals' mode, the addition of a column for 'average length of stay' could provide another very useful criteria for future evaluation and planning.

  9. As there may be many tasks created for your property, they can be difficult to keep track of when managing many aspects of your operations. For this reason, passing task deadlines should generate a notification for the task creator or any department members to which the task is assigned. After being sent, these pending notifications would only be dismissed when the task is fully completed. This implemented feature could help all members of your team stay more on schedule and would encourage task completion in line with all assigned deadlines.

  10. Automatic room assignment is available in properties, assigning either top to bottom or bottom to top, however for same day bookings that may have a limited amount of time before arrival, it is important that the system automatically recognize this so that they can be assigned to an inspected space. Smart space assignment could help identify any time-sensitive situations so that they are intuitively managed without any manual correction needed.

  13. "In case a guest would like to be assigned a different room for their stay, it is easily changeable through the State tab of the reservation module. Using the assign drop-down, all rooms are visible. However, to improve the user experience, this list of spaces could be reduced to display only inspected and vacant rooms, making alternate space selection faster and easier."

  19. "Some employees may be a part of multiple departments and participate in multiple aspects of your operations. Currently in the system, however, it is not possible to add employees to multiple departments, which restricts their ability to be directly involved in some assignments or orders. With the option to add employees to multiple departments, this could eliminate some of this separation and allow your property to involve all the right people in all the right processes."
