Customizable Online Check-in requirements

As many guests utilize online check-in before arrival, it is currently designed to ask for only legally required details as part of the form. Many properties, however, would prefer to collect specific pieces of data that may not be included as part of that legal obligation. For this reason, implementing optional or customizable fields for online check-in would help properties to prioritize the data that is valuable to them.

Hi everyone, we know this idea was logged a long time ago and we thank you for the feedback and ideas about how to improve the system. We do keep an eye on these requests and how they're progressing and we recognise we have room to improve in terms of providing feedback.


This idea has become a large group of different requests, so I want to clarify the intention and progress related to this. Please do reply and comment as necessary.


We have previously made progress towards a big part of the original intent of this idea by introducing a 'Check in form' configuration in Mews Operations. You can find more details on this in our help guides here. We are not yet marking this as complete until we deliver some further enhancements to which guests the data can be configured for. We plan to share more on this in the coming months.

    Remove or make "nationality" field option on the booking engine

    We’d like to suggest making the email entry at the Kiosk optional, especially for guests who have booked via OTAs (e.g. Booking.com).

    In many cases, a valid proxy email is already available. Requiring guests to manually enter their email again often leads to unnecessary friction, longer check-in times, and guest dissatisfaction.

    An optional email field – or ideally, automatic detection of OTA reservations with a corresponding message – would significantly streamline the check-in process and improve the overall user experience.

    We would be very happy, if Mews Kiosk and online Check In could also ask for the data of accompanying guests. All in all I agree with lot of other users, that each hotel should be able to decide which data is required and which is optional. The easiest would be if all data which is part of a guests profile (main guest and accompanying persons) could be chosen as part of check in process (Kiosk and Guest Portal) either required or optional.

    We still have problems with this issue. In Austria, MEws Kiosk and the Mews guest portal require too much data from guests. Mews requires the address of all people. However, only the address of one person is required. This leads to unnecessary long check-in times.

    The idea from 2018 (!) with the most upvotes on the entire platform has not yet been implemented. Isn't it slowly being planned?

    C'est TRES important pour les petits établissements : savoir si on peut accepter un DAYUSE ou un LATE CHECK-OUT, pouvoir optimiser l'ordre de nettoyage de chambres, etc...

    Het zou fijn zijn als gasten kunnen aangeven als ze om 14.00 uur kunnen inchecken, maar ze willen bijvoorbeeld om 15.00 uur of 16.00 uur aankomen, dat ze dat in de bookingsmodulen al kunnen aangeven ivm kamerverdeling en bijvoorbeeld inplannen van behandelingen en massages.

    We would like it to be possible to have the nationality for the guest as a mandatory feild when making a booking.

    It should also be possible to set nationality for whole groups, and avilibilty blocks.

    As of now it is to many steps to find and change natonilty manuly for a guest. As we are required to send this to the goverment every month.

    In the customer profile can the address field "Country" be stored as a mandatory field in Mews, not only the name?

    Hi / critical to get customer & company data at pre/check in since the customer would like that personal Data to be given ahead of check in.

    Addresszeile 2 sollte angezeigt werden, damit Gäste eine Firmenadresse hinterlegen können.
    Vielleicht könnte es so aussehen:
    Adresszeile 1 (Straße oder Firma)
    Adresszeile 2 (optional oder Straße der Firma)
    Postleitzahl
    Stadt
    Land

    It would be good that "Nationality" field is mandatory when booking online on MEWS Booking Engine. This makes it easier to organise statistics report at the end of the month

    I think it's important to not confuse leisure travellers with an option to provide company billing details during Online-CI. It should be a visible, but not interrupting or complicating the straight forward CI process. An option to provide an alternative / company billing address should be available though, at the latest during Online CO.

    As hotel it should be possible to make certain field required. We would like to have the adress and license plate. however this is not mandatory.

    I might be a bit confused, but is it even possible to add an address during online check-in? I don't see that option? Every customer that arrives in the hotel is forced to give their personal address manually. Even if they fulfilled the online check-in. So nevertheless: upvoted.
