Property Operations & PMS

Property Operations and PMS: this is the forum for posting your ideas and comments on all aspects of hotel operations, from reservations to events to metrics and reports. You'll find a category here for each of the major topics in property management, and if you can't find the right category, please search or post to the Other category. Where we can, we'll move ideas around to group them as intuitively as possible for the product managers working on the PMS.

Please keep in mind that there is a separate forum for topics specific to the operations of hotel chains and groups. Go to the Multi-property management forum for anything about portfolio management or rate, product, package and restriction functionality across multiple properties.

  3. One should be able to insert in the configuration the lowest rate to be typed when updating rates (BAR) so that no typing error can be made (for instance 9 instead of 99).

    Hello all,

This status update is part of our ongoing work to simplify and streamline how our UserVoice feedback forum operates. 5. It would be necessary to have commander only rates which can be used by our receptionist only, that do not have any restrictions on it. Sometimes it is ok to sell one room of a category for maybe just one night at a certain time, but not the whole category. Also we offer our returner guests the possibilty to book their next vacation - same time - next year when they leave, but we do not sell it to any other person - not online, not at the OTA´s and not in person at the desk. Due to the setup…

  6. We often change how a promotional rate is priced, sometimes off BAR, then we might change it to equal AAA, or some other rate from our RMS. Currently if I want to change the base rate being used, I have to delete the entire rate plan and rebuild a new one.

  7. Ability to manage child rates as a percentage of adult rates, automatically adjusting them in response to changes in adult rates. This enhancement aims to streamline rate management, improve operational efficiency, and maintain consistent pricing strategies.

  8. Currently when a rate is setup as based upon another rate (base rate) it is only possible to setup one fixed adjustment. However, since we offer rates with and without breakfast, occupancy based adjustments need to be different between rates with and without breakfast (for example).

Wouldn’t a setup option be nice that allows to not derive all room / occupancy prices from the base rate, but only derive the base rate by a certain adjustment and setup the occupancy adjustments and room type adjustments.

    So like:

Base rate: xyz-Rate (← the one the new rate is derived from)

  9. This is my idea on how Mews could benefit from having an Extended Status Page or a "Minor bug-report".

Today, we dont have a clear view on what is currently bugged or been worked on by Mews support and their team. This feature would be great thing to minimize the amount of tickets that are being created today.

I.e. I had no clue, that it currently is a bug that set OOS rooms to Dirty at night due to legionella and that the support team is aware of the issue and are working on a solution. Same goes with Rooms…

  10. The pre-arrival email is very useful, but 2 days prior to stay is too close - both for guests making arrangements and our upselling, can we have the option to amend this to 7 days to give guests the ability to book dinners etc in advance.
If we could have the option to make and schedule our own email templates that would be even better :)
    Thank you

  11. Same idea here as what we can do with static rates.

I.e. If we have a company rate that has 10 % off BAR. For next year they contract 15%.

We have to wait until the date that the new contract starts and change the "Relative Adjustment" instead of being proactive and set the price beforehand with an override.

This makes it bad for the customer as well cause they might want to book in advance but still get the old contract rate even tho they have a new rate coming up in just a couple of days.

  12. By now, Mews restrictions do not allow to set a specific day of the week you want to exclude. If you wish to make a % discount on Sunday night for example, you will have to close all other days on your restriction but travelers will not be able to book several nights including Sunday night. Very bad if you are looking to maximize length of stay and want to compensate those staying on Sunday.
Mews team, please keep improving restrictions to allow us to combine various setups, it is so important! Thanks

  13. we have some spaces more popular than others and it would be good to be able to determine in what way you wish for them to show on the rate page when making a booking. currently we have space types showing at the top which we sell the least

  14. Actually we can OVERRIDE rates, for special days in the week.
It would be interresting to be able to override rate for special other days, which would be indicated in Calendar Event like 'Public Holidays'
For Exemple, if you increase or decrease your rate for special public days, an option in CALENDAR EVENT would allow the CALENDAR DATE to be 'OVERRIDE With rate'.
When Override-ing the rates, another option then the days of the week, whouldshow you : OVVERIDE 'CALENDAR SPECIAL DATES'

  15. Sometimes guests will have rate disputes and I would like to investigate and be able to present concrete evidence. Right now I have to go to the Action Log, give it a wide time frame because I don't know when the rate was last updated, and sort by type = price adjustments, and rate = the rate that I am looking through.

In case I am using a revenue management integration, the rates could be changed pretty frequently, and there would be a lot of information, and the report takes a while to load.

If the rates were updated manually,…

  16. When creating a Hourly Service to sell hotel rooms during the day, we would like to have the possibility to add occupancy starting time and ending time to this service.

To be able to sell room during the day on different time slots, we're first going to set up the Hourly Service. We are then going to create Rate Plans on which we add "Closed to stay" Restrictions on selected hours.
With this setup I can sell my day rooms on different time slot and at different rates.

However this configuration does not allow us to set up the Occupancy…

  17. Currently the system has two logic when you want to apply an exception to a restriction: merge with existing exceptions or replace all exceptions but sometimes it is behaving the same way.

For example: I want a rate to be available if people stay 3 nights or 7 nights (not 4, 5 o 6 as this will create availability gaps), the system does not allow you, when you try to put the second exception it replaces the first one. The solution I have been given its to create 2 different rates, but I cannot create a new rate every time…

  18. In order to check if restrictions are still valid / necessary, the occupancy (overall and per room type) should be displayed in the restrictions calendar (as in rate management). This is very important to check if MLOS and close restrictions are still valid.

  19. We would love to be able to create discounted rates without the need to create a new rate manually.

The idea is that when you create a voucher, you can set a certain discount (ie. 20%) and select the rates on which it applies. With this a a lot of work can be avoided.

  20. Currently having a MLOS exception and maximum advance exception for close to stay restriction does not work.

An example would be having a close to stay restriction for the Saturdays, except if they book 2 nights, OR if they book within 7 days before arrival (maximum advance).

So what I want is a MLOS2 restriction for the Saturdays, but when it is 7 days before arrival, no restriction at all.

It is probably a setup with an AND/OR rule.
