Extending an in house booking - Mews changes room allocation
When dealing with a booking extension ( checked-in) Mews automatically changes the room allocation to a new vacant room. This does not make any sense as the guest is already in house, and Mews should not be able to change by itself an In-house reservation. This is leading into a lot of check-ins into occupied rooms and therefore, guest complaints.

When a checked-in guest has their stay extended in Mews by a hotel employee Mews currently will automatically change the in-house guest's room assignment if it's already assigned to someone in the same room #. Instead, Mews should keep the current guest in their room assignment and bump the other guest to a different room, or at the very least warn the user that a new room assignment needs to be selected.

I'm surprised to see this issue persisting all the way back to 2020! This seems to be not only an obvious fix, but should be an easy fix. If the in-house guest extends then Mews should automatically bump the incoming guest to another room assignment or warn the hotel user that the reservation can't be extended without changed the room #

It's bad that you have to vote on it. It is and remains a fatal mistake

Very important, because guests could be checked in in rooms that are already occupied with other guest. This is also an security issue. Nobody wants to wake up at night with a stranger standing next to your bed or surprising you, when you take a shower!

We’ve noticed an operational challenge when trying to extend the check-out time or stay of a guest who is already checked in. Currently, Mews requires the room to be unlocked and automatically moves the active reservation to a different space, which creates operational problems since the guest is physically already in the room. This is especially challenging for Medium to large size Hotels.
Our expectated behaviour is:
The in-house reservation should remain in its current room.
The following reservation (new guest) should be automatically moved to another available space or flagged as overbooking if none are available.
Having to manually move upcoming reservations adds unnecessary workload and increases and has way more errors than the reservation I am not currently working on. It would be more intuitive and operationally efficient if Mews prioritized keeping in-house guests in their assigned rooms during extensions.

I would like to be able to extend a in house booking and for MEWS to automatically un-allocate any bookings which have been blocked

I would like to be able to extend a in house booking and for MEWS to automatically un-allocate any bookings which have been blocked this room on the timeline. The only exception to this would of course be for bookings which are locked which we would need to move manually. Currently MEWS doe not allow for these bookings to be extended until you have moved everyone on the timeline to make this available.

Hi there,
We have experienced some issues when extending semester reservations, as Mews was changing the room number automatically without informing the user. This lead into operational problems and it can be easily solved by implementing alerts as soon as there's ANY change into the reservation that has not been performed by the user.

When guests are extending their stay with a new booking (made at the front desk or via any OTA or directly on our website), it should be automatically allocated in the same room or bed, rather than finding the booking in the last room/bed available in the timeline.

even worse. we noticed that if the hotel previously did give an upgrade to a better room, when extending the stay, mews reverts the old and the new reservation to the old category, thus chaning an in house guest to a completely new room the guest has never seen.
We are always very scared to extend a stay as we never know were mews will move the "new" stay to.
Thank you -

Please make our operational lives easier and fix this. It is way too convoluted as it stands. Too much room for error.
