Property Operations & PMS

Property Operations and PMS: this is the forum for posting your ideas and comments on all aspects of hotel operations, from reservations to billing. You'll find a category here for each of the major topics in property management, and if you can't find the right category, please search or post to the Other category. Where we can, we'll move ideas around to group them as intuitively as possible for the product managers working on the PMS.

Please keep in mind that there is a separate forum for topics specific to the operations of hotel chains and groups. Go to the Multi-property management forum for anything about portfolio management or rate, product, package and restriction functionality across multiple properties.

  1. Base Rates
-Ability to add Surcharge on the "Base Rate" via a Relative Value (%)
-Extend that relative adjustment to the Age Categories
-Extend that as well to the Dynamic Pricing Overriding functionality.

    Dependent Rates
    - Can we also consider an independent "Relative/Aboslute Dynamic Pricing Overriding" functionality as well for the dependent rates? Right now, they are highly dependable on the modifications made to the base rate.

  2. It would be helpful to be able to set up recurring restrictions. For instance, our property is closed 1-30 JUL every year. We also restrict many rates during our Festive Period 15 DEC-15 JAN. Rather than process these each year, it would be much more useful to be able to set it to reoccur every year (similar to a birthday in an Outlook calendar).

  4. We have rates with rental services included. As we only have a limited number of stand-up paddles, for example, it would be great to limit this arrangement: “this rate can only be booked 5 times per night”.
I currently have to regularly check whether the rate has been booked in order to close it manually for these nights.

  5. It would be great if it were possible to set an early check-in and early check-out rate per hour. Currently, only a fixed price can be selected, which limits our ability to charge more for these options.

  6. When we want to delete a rate, it is not possible if there are restrictions affecting to "All rates". It is not operational to delete all restrictions affecting to "All rates" in order to eliminate an specific rate. Instead of not letting you delete that rate, it should be asked with a "warning" something like "would you like to delete this rate eventhough there is a restriction on it?

  7. It would be great if MEWS had an option during build and for future changes, to allow a bulk upload or download of products within services for monitoring - currently updating prices, adding or removing products is laborious for properties and very time consuming; having the ability like guest profiles to upload and download would be much quicker and save a lot of time.

  8. Use case:
We want to offer a last-minute rate in our web booking engine to increase and stimulate a last-minute pickup. This rate should ONLY display for dates that fall between a maximum advance period of 7 days.

Existing restrictions can be set up to affect the arrival date, however cannot limit the departure date. (rate-specific)

It would be useful to have this option within the restriction options.

    Work-around:
To achieve the above scenario, is only possible using maximum advance and maximum length restrictions for each night individually. In our case we want to offer a last-minute rate maximum 7…

  9. Mews should accurately allocate the price across different age categories. For instance, if a reservation includes products with child pricing, Mews should distribute the total cost based on child pricing and not just equally. For example, if the total price is 67.5 and the reservation has 2 adults and 1 child, the distribution should be 27 (adult price) multiplied by 2 (adults) and 13.5 (child price) multiplied by 1 (child).

  11. Rate Key Requirement:
It is not possible to leave the rate key field empty, limiting flexibility. We are currently doing a big migration/restructure project and cannot yet delete the old rates but need to wipe the keys in order to reuse them.

    Navigation Limitation:
Unable to use Command+Click to open a rate in a new tab, which impacts multitasking efficiency.

    Voucher Code Search:
Searching for voucher codes is harder. Additionally:

If working on a public voucher setting, after making a change, all filters reset quickly to default, and we need to filter again to public/private.
    Lazy Loading Behavior:

  12. It would be helpful if we can select the specific room types we need to assign to a specific rate plan. Currently, we just need to add more restrictions if a room type cannot be sold under a rate plan.

  13. There are other suggestions about restricting products, but would also be good to restrict products by Room category, and rates/ packages/ dates

    For example -
1 offer a cot to rooms that can only accommodate cots and not to all rooms

2 offer pet products to rooms that can accommodate a cot and not to all rooms

3 only offer a product on specific dates, rather than all, or seasonally within a certain date range - Strawberries in Summer

4 by package type, if a rate includes a product you wont necessarily want to add again

  14. Bonjour,
    Merci

  16. In the list of rates, we see
Name, Base rate, Type (private or public), Short name, External name, Enabled, Default.
It would be nice to have at least one extra column, to visualise the adjustment (absolute or relative) from the base rate. When there's a lot of rates to setup and check it can be time consuming to do those 3 clicks (rate, pricing, adjustment).

  17. In the basic rate, the price adjustment for additional occupancy or negative occupancy should be individually adjustable for each room. The invoices become increasingly distorted the greater the price difference between the rooms.
The children's prices should either be adjustable as a percentage or also be adjustable per room, as the distortions here are also very strong.

  19. Where properties receive a high volume of same day bookings, which they review and then either take manual payment or cancel, there should be an option to configure payment policies on rate groups by advance date. This solution would help to reduce the amount of refunds properties need to perform for these particular bookings. This is currently only possible in Mews by creating a combination of multiple policies, rates/rate groups and restrictions.

Ideal use case below where property only requires one rate and one policy

    • Any reservation made prior to the day of arrival - an automatic payment schedule is…

  20. They is a example of the request of the customer. This functionality is available in Hotello and customers is looking to have the same in Mews. There is some examples:
    Example 1: I have a package for 3 nights:
    Night 1: Diner
Night 2: Breakfast, lunch (apply after midnight per day per person) and diner
Night 3: breakfast and lunch (apply after midnight per day per person)
The problem right now is all items applied every night. In Hotello, they was able to select in the configuration with specific night the product should applies

    Example 2:
    I have a package…
