Split future reservations
Guests may know in advance that they have companions coming to stay for only part of their reservation. Therefore, properties may want to apply these changes as soon as possible, rather than waiting until after check-in. This additional feature could allow users to split future bookings as necessary.

Hello everyone, we know how important is this functionality to you and we have it on our radar. Unfortunately, it's not that simple to implement even though it might seem so.
We're now working on Rate Mixing (https://feedback.mews.com/forums/918232-mews-operations-pms/suggestions/37193350-rate-mixing) which is quite complex project and takes a lot of our time as it affects many places in our PMS. We're also improving billing automation so there's a lot of big initiatives ahead of us. We'll need to reassess later when we'll work on splitting future reservations.

In our country we have a regulation that we need to scan ID of all guests upon check-in. if we split the reservation, we have to check-in the guest(s) again- officially we need to scan the IDs again. As well, all statitistics will be false.
An example - one of the guests arrives at 2pm, second guest arrives at midnight in same room. We have to split reservation, and the first guest needs to come to reception at midnight as well to do the check-in again... -

Please, we need this feature for all the good reasons everyone else here already wrote.

In addition, show splited reservations in the time table. Or maybe at the CO-Report at moving day.

Split reservations - optional and confirmed
at the moment, only in house reservations can be splitted. When a guest already books a room change, we have either to make two different reservations or block the spaces until the guest is checked in.

There is splitting existing reservations (moving rooms) and giving the ability for people to book split reservations.
The first is now implemented. How are we looking on the 2nd? Is there another post?

once upon a time....
there was a idea (see above) that would be so very helpful for the hotels, but for some reason MEWS thinks that this is not priority for the development department....and since then they lived unhappily ever after

Mews is such a great system! ...but I can't believe that I still have to manually make a new reservation and cancel some nights of the original reservation and then check if all prices etc. are still correct, just to be able to fit in a reservation where a change of rooms can't be avoided. This happens all the time in peak season, especially when people book longer stays in a dorm. What's even more ridiculous about this is the fact that the function is actually already in the system, it does exist - but for some weird reason the button only appears once a reservation is checked in. This makes no sense to me. Pleeeease solve this issue - you advertise not only to hotels, but also specifically to hostels and this is something hostels need, especially in peak season.

We need this as we often move guests from room to room to fit them in when we near maximum occupancy.

Fantastic idea which should be implemented urgently.
This would save so much time. -

Yes this would save so much time and avoid manual errors. Currently if we need to split a future reservation we need to create a new reservation match segment, rate code, rates etc. and amend the current reservation end date. Splitting reservations is a common practise, perhaps a large group is coming during the stay so the guest needs to change rooms, or the guest is wanting to upgrade the space category but only for part of the stay.

Having to try and re-book parts of OTA bookings is painful. This would make life so much easier on MEWS

I would like to suggest to implement the possibility to split a future reservations.
It's better to allocate the reservation straight away instead of waiting the day of the check in as the beds available might be booked in the meantime and this will effect the allocation of the reservation on the red line.
Please consider this idea. It will improve the allocation system and guest experience too. -

we sometimes deal with an existing booking wishing to change unit types during their stay. even though they haven't checked in yet, it would be much easier if we were able to split the booking (and thus keeping all the notes) rather than having to duplicate the booking, copying the notes, adjust the dates, rates, etc..
