    In our country we have a regulation that we need to scan ID of all guests upon check-in. if we split the reservation, we have to check-in the guest(s) again- officially we need to scan the IDs again. As well, all statitistics will be false.
    An example - one of the guests arrives at 2pm, second guest arrives at midnight in same room. We have to split reservation, and the first guest needs to come to reception at midnight as well to do the check-in again...
