OTA Room Reservation Billing Screen Offers No Way to Open a Guest-owned Bill Directly
On occasions when a Guest with an OTA room reservation has no charges throughout their stay (yet), but incurs a charge during or after their stay in a post-departure billing scenario, I have found that following the roll-out of billing automation, the ability to open a new bill owned by the Guest is not available on the billing screen.
Instead, a new bill can only be opened that is owned by the OTA and must be manually changed to be owned by the Guest, and association with the OTA must be removed.
I opened case 00628498 with live examples and screen shots to inquire about this and learned this is a known issue. Specifically, I was advised, "Based on the current product behavior, direct creation of a guest-owned bill in that scenario is not natively supported". This requires a lot of added steps that seem counterintuitive to the purpose for the creation and roll-out of billing automation.
I was referred here to post my feedback, "I completely understand that this limitation can be frustrating operationally, especially when you are trying to keep the billing workflow simple for staff while also reducing manual steps for OTA reservations. As this behavior is currently a product limitation, I would recommend submitting it as a feature request through our Product Ideas Forum."
I respectfully recommend that this be revisited since it appears to have been overlooked in the creation, testing, and roll-out of billing automation.
