email templates/placeholders contains errors {DetailsHtml} {reservationDetailsHtml}
{DetailsHtml} shows requested room category, while:
{reservationDetailsHtml} shows category where the reservation is booked in actually.
means: if you booked the room in a higher category than requested (guest possibly gets an upgrade) and you sent a second confirmation to guest/booker later (because of a date change or you had a typo in the email, or else), you will confirm him the "upgraded category". He will resist on getting the better category even if you received cancellations meanwhile and want to move the reservation to the requested category.
It makes no sense nowhere to confirm an "actual" category in an email. instead of the requested category.
also: in {DetailsHtml} the room number is shown. in no case I want the guest to have his room number confirmed 4 weeks before arrival. There might be cases, were a frequent guest wants "his" room, but for the most of us, we promise/confirm a room category but not a room number.
Email templates: {DetailsHtml} and {reservationDetailsHtml} should be adjustable for the User.
the wiki does not include ALL placeholders: https://help.mews.com/s/article/placeholders-general-mail-templates?language=en
I spend a lot of time to enter and change invoice addresses, so I want to display the guests address AND the company address that is linked to the guest in his account, so he can check and change or alert us to change the billing address.
like: please check your billing addres or "click here" to update your data...kind of.
also: what is meant with this ?
{firstName} John The email recipient's first name.
{lastName} Doe The email recipient's last name.
the recipients name ? the booker ? the guest ? holy cow. How can a discription be so unprecise and wrong..... please name it guest name and booker name. there must be two placeholders....or am I so wrong ?
I think I found "arrivaldate" as a placeholder in the WIKI, but I didn't find a "departuredate" placeholder.... well, i can imagine the syntax...
the listing of placeholders is very bad. Mews really have to upgrade that.
take someone off of the "unfolding emails creators" and let him built up that page with ALL placeholders the user can use.... I am bored to death from the "promise " emails..... sorry.
I'd love to see a greater section of email templates design. I know larger hotels/groups build them theirself or with agencies.... but I bet, they didn't use the placeholder list from the WIKI only.... I really would buy in, to get nicer email templates.....
so MEWS: correct the above and show a list of ALL placeholders....thanks
I also mentioned that in the community (DE)
