Availability Blocks - Option to include or exclude blocks from occupancy calculations
Currently, confirmed availability blocks are included in the Availability & Occupancy report, regardless of their purpose.
However, not all confirmed blocks represent actual commercial commitments.
Some blocks are created for corporate clients, groups or long-term accommodation agreements. These should logically be included in occupancy calculations, even before individual reservations are picked up.
Other blocks are created for internal operational reasons, such as temporarily securing inventory, preventing booking errors or managing availability. These should not necessarily be considered as occupied accommodation.
Suggested improvement:
Add a simple option when creating or editing an availability block, such as:
“Include in occupancy calculations” – Yes / No
This would allow properties to:
• Include confirmed commercial blocks in occupancy statistics, even when they have not yet been picked up.
• Exclude internal or precautionary blocks from occupied room nights.
• Maintain the existing inventory restrictions and availability management, regardless of the option selected.
• Obtain more accurate occupancy figures in the Availability & Occupancy report and, ideally, in Mews BI Pro.
The option could be enabled by default to preserve the current behavior, while allowing users to exclude specific blocks when necessary.
The objective is to distinguish commercially committed inventory from internal operational holds, providing more meaningful occupancy statistics without changing how availability blocks function.
This would be particularly useful for properties managing both long-term commercial allotments and internal inventory restrictions.
