Age-based pricing for allowances
Age-based pricing for credits
Currently, Mews credits can be used to automatically deduct amounts when integrated with a POS system such as Lightspeed. However, it is not possible to assign different credit values based on the guest's age category (adult, child or infant).
For example, if breakfast is priced at €27 for an adult and €17 for a child, Mews cannot allocate the corresponding amount to each guest. Instead, it applies an average value — for example, 2 × €22.
Although the POS system sends the correct price for each guest, Mews still considers the unused portion of the credit as remaining and charges it accordingly. This creates an incorrect final amount.
At present, there is no workaround for this, including creating separate credits for children or infants.
The same limitation also affects the Mews Booking Engine. When a reservation includes children or infants, the system cannot adjust the value of included services according to their age and therefore displays the full adult price.
Suggested improvement
Allow credits and included services to have different values depending on the guest's age category, for example:
Adult: €27
Child: €17
Infant: €0 or a configurable amount
Mews would then automatically allocate the correct credit amount to each guest based on their age category, both:
when the credit is consumed through an integrated POS system such as Lightspeed;
and when calculating the total price displayed in the Mews Booking Engine.
This would ensure accurate pricing, avoid incorrect remaining-credit charges, and provide guests with the correct rate when booking with children or infants.
