Allow properties to define a daily cut-off time for same-day reservations
Many properties using Mews do not operate a 24/7 reception. Our guesthouse, for example, accepts check-ins only until 10:00 PM, yet Mews continues to allow guests to make same-day reservations until midnight.
At the moment, the only automated solution is to use Zapier with webhooks. Zapier is an excellent product, and I understand why Mews offers this integration. However, many properties only need this one simple function. It is difficult to justify purchasing an additional automation platform—sometimes together with a higher Mews subscription—just to stop same-day bookings after a certain hour.
Our guesthouse has 32 rooms and is operated by only two employees. Every evening at 9:00 PM, one of us has to manually adjust Availability & Occupancy or create a restriction to prevent late same-day bookings. This repetitive task could easily be handled by the PMS itself.
We would like Mews to provide a native setting that allows each property to define the latest time guests can make a same-day reservation.
For example:
- Same-day bookings allowed until 9:00 PM.
- After 9:00 PM, today's arrival date automatically becomes unavailable.
- Future arrival dates remain unaffected.
Many of the properties that need this feature most are guesthouses, B&Bs, boutique hotels and self-check-in properties operating with small teams and limited budgets. We do not need complex automation workflows—we simply need to define the latest time guests can book for arrival on the same day.
The hospitality industry is changing, and there are more properties operating without a traditional reception. A built-in same-day booking cut-off would support this growing segment of customers, eliminate unnecessary manual work, reduce dependence on third-party tools, and improve the guest experience by preventing bookings that a property can no longer accommodate.
Ideally, this should be available as a simple setting within Restrictions or Booking Engine settings, without requiring any external integrations.
