Business package handling in PMS and kiosk view
we would like to ask for guidance regarding the handling of Business Packages, as we are currently facing significant operational challenges in daily use.
From our perspective, the key requirement is that the Business Package is displayed as one single bundled item
both in the PMS from a staff perspective
and in the kiosk view for guests
It should not be split into individual components such as wifi, drinks or food.
Current situation
On the final invoice, the Business Package is displayed correctly as one bundled position.
However, in the operational PMS view, the package is broken down into multiple entries such as
Stay Package
Business Package
Business Package Adjustment
Breakfast food
Breakfast drinks
Wifi
This discrepancy between invoice view and PMS view causes considerable complexity in daily operations.
Concrete example from daily operations
If a guest stays five nights and does not have breakfast on two of those days, we currently have to manually adjust and cancel multiple entries in the PMS.
For each day, this includes cancelling Business Package, Business Package Adjustment, breakfast food, breakfast drinks and wifi.
This results in around ten individual actions for a single guest, and this effort multiplies quickly when handling two or three guests.
All of this is required just to correctly remove breakfast for specific days, instead of being able to make one or two simple adjustments per booking.
Impact on self check out and guest experience
In the self check out process, guests see individual line items of the package such as
1.00 EUR for wifi
4.00 EUR for drinks
etc.
This creates confusion, especially since wifi is communicated as included for free, and guests expect to see a single clear position such as
Business Package = XYEUR
As a result, guests frequently ask questions at the kiosk, which contradicts the goal of a fast and seamless self check out process.
Business relevance
For corporate guests and internal workflows, it is essential that the Business Package is treated as one closed service unit.
The current behaviour increases manual workload, training effort and the risk of errors, and negatively affects both staff efficiency and guest perception.
Our question
Is there a recommended solution or best practice in Mews to ensure that the Business Package
is displayed as one bundled item in the PMS from a staff perspective
and appears as one clear position in the kiosk view
even when product rules and VAT logic are applied in the background?
We would highly appreciate your guidance
