Enhanced Guest and Occupancy Management for Shared Rooms
We require a solution to accurately manage single room reservations where multiple guests (sharers) have varying arrival and departure dates within the booked period. The current system limits us to registering a static guest count for the entire stay, which results in inaccurate occupancy data and complex billing scenarios (especially concerning automated price codes like breakfast).
Key Requirements (The Three Needs)
To correctly support shared rooms with dynamic occupancy, the system must address the following three critical needs:
Need 1: Shared Guest Linking
The ability to link multiple individual guests ("sharers") to a single room reservation.
Need 2: Critical Dynamic Occupancy Tracking (Day-by-Day Guest Count)
The ability to assign individual Check-in and Check-out dates to each linked guest, AND the ability to directly adjust the numerical guest count/occupancy on a day-by-day (per-night) basis.
Rationale: This is essential to ensure that automated price codes (e.g., those including breakfast or resort fees) correctly reflect the true number of occupants each night, preventing incorrect deductions or charges even if the final room rate has been manually adjusted.
Need 3: Dynamic Billing Allocation
The ability to accurately split or allocate the room rate for any given night between the guests linked to the room. If two guests share a room for one night, the room rate must be easily divisible and traceable to the respective guests/invoices.
