Property Operations & PMS

Property Operations and PMS: this is the forum for posting your ideas and comments on all aspects of hotel operations, from reservations to events to metrics and reports. You'll find a category here for each of the major topics in property management, and if you can't find the right category, please search or post to the Other category. Where we can, we'll move ideas around to group them as intuitively as possible for the product managers working on the PMS.

Please keep in mind that there is a separate forum for topics specific to the operations of hotel chains and groups. Go to the Multi-property management forum for anything about portfolio management or rate, product, package and restriction functionality across multiple properties.

  1. "By expanding user privilege assignment, admin users can now assign privileges to each employee with much more flexibility. Privileges can be organized with dependencies, and in addition to creating different assignable privilege sets, individual privileges can be granted or revoked according to each employee's operational duties."

  2. It's quite common for guests to book accommodation together, meaning that when they're ready to pay, they would like to split charges evenly or with some other percentage. Currently this is not possible in Mews, but an additional feature could allow billing charges to be split according to guest preferences before payment.

  3. We're new to MEWS and whilst the functionality is brilliant (thank you), our front of house team really struggle with the visual appearance of the timeline. Spending lots of screen time on a screen with poor visual appearance and contrasts is not healthy and inefficient as it is difficult to see the timeline at a glance - please could you look at improving visual contrasts both colours and lines between dates/spaces for improved accessibility.

    Thank you very much

  5. Guests may know in advance that they have companions coming to stay for only part of their reservation. Therefore, properties may want to apply these changes as soon as possible, rather than waiting until after check-in. This additional feature could allow users to split future bookings as necessary.

    Hi there Mewsers!

    You’ve asked and we’ve listened.

We upgraded the action log to make it more detailed and easier to use.

Below are some of the additional details that we’ve added.

Before, when a reservation moved to a different room, you couldn’t see which room it was in originally—now you’ll always see exactly how the reservation looked before and after each change.

We’ve enhanced updates for products. You’ll now be able trace for example, the additions of order items as well as the price adjustments made to your products.

And finally on the pricing side, no need for a calculator! You can now monitor and report on changes to prices with the both net and gross values, as well as the affects the changes you’ve made have on taxes.

We will continue working on updates to the action log for different sections of the system. Stay tuned for more!

  7. Once a reservation has been confirmed in Mews, it is currently not possible to change that status to optional. Rather, the user must delete and recreate this reservation as optional in order to do so. Introducing the functionality to edit reservation status could help your front office simplify booking changes as they could update those details directly from the reservation module.

  8. The system should be able to propose the cheapest rate possible to our guests (like booking.com does). Mixing the rates to offer the best deal is a guarantee to compete better against booking.com. Not mixing the rates allows booking.com to steal bookings from us. Exemple: you activate a Last Minute deal on the next 48h. A guest want to arrive today and stay for 3 days. On booking.com, he will see a rate mixed from the last minute rate (for the 2 first nights) and from another rate for the 3d night. On our booking engine, you will see either…

    Hey community!

I'm happy to announce that this feature is something we'll be looking into throughout 2025 👏

If you're interested in talking to us about this functionality and what you expect from it, please, use this community link and send me a direct message. We'll plan out when to talk about the initiative in detail and what will be the timeframe 🎉

  9. Add more flexibility to how bill and invoice documents should appear to the customer.

  10. We can add products to all reservations simultaneously, but it is not possible to cancel them with one command. With the ability to cancel items from all bookings at the same time, managing stay products will become much more simplified.

  12. At present the available Space Status are Dirty, Clean & Inspected (OOS & OOO).

From a front office and housekeeping perspective this is limiting.

Could you please consider the following please?

    VACANT READY - Inspected
OCCUPIED DIRTY - Guest checked in
OCCUPIED READY - Inspected stay over
VACANT DIRTY - Guest checked out
PICKUP - Room move and for housekeeping to inspect

This would offer more clarity as to not only the status of the room but also the ‘condition’, meaning the physical status of the room (guest). This is important for the operation of a hotel.

    Please consider this…

  13. Tasks are very helpful to track daily responsibilities in Mews. However as many tasks are recurring, it could be helpful to eliminate that manual work and add a repeating tag to allow automatic repetition of those particular assignments on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

  14. When you cancel a group reservation, the tasks attached to one of the reservation will remain active. It would be helpful if tasks can be solved by default after you cancel the reservation

  15. When using Mews to book a reservation, there are times a manager needs to have the ability to override the restrictions and "Force-Sell" a room. Example the property may have a 2 night minimum, but wants to book a VIP for 1 night only. The process now is to remove the restriction, book the reservation and put the restriction back on which exposes availability. Better to have a NS (Normal Sell using restrictions) and FS (Force-Sell with overrides restrictions) for Management use only.

    Hi Mewsers,
if you have online check-out enabled, guests receive the copy of their bill to their mailbox right after they finish online check-out. (they receive only copy of the bill which was closed by guest during the online. check-out.).

Other bills closed via Commander are not being sent automatically to the guest yet.

    Have a great day,
    Aneta

  17. It is sometimes necessary to block more than one room out of order (an entire floor or entire building in the event of large scale refurbishment work, for example) and it would be helpful to be able to place multiple rooms 'out of order' at once if they all should be blocked for the same dates and same reason.

  19. Multiple occupancy for a duration of stay.
Expample: a Guest is staying for 5 nights. The first 3 nights is single occupancy and the last 2 nights are double occupancy. This should then have multiple rates *depending on the Hotel

  20. Requesting the ability to enter selling limits based on variables defined by the hotel.

    For example:

Rate Code + Space category + Number of rooms
Once number of rooms has been sold for X category with X rate, close ability to sell more
