Wildcards
To improve the user-friendliness of the global/local search, it would be desirable for MEWS to support wildcards. This would enable staff to find the right guests more quickly, even if the exact spelling of a name is unknown or there are typos.
The % symbol could, for example, be used for any string of characters:
Cor% → finds “Cory” and “Corey” etc.
%aitlyn → finds “Caitlyn” and “Kaitlyn” etc.
S%n%der → finds “Snyder” and “Schneider” etc.
This makes search suggestions more flexible and significantly increases the hit rate, particularly for international guests, different spellings or incomplete information. This saves time in the front office and improves efficiency in day-to-day operations.
