Package Price Estimation and Breakdown for Product Rules
Problem
Currently, when creating package rates using Product Rules, Revenue Managers have no intuitive way to understand how the final package price is calculated. The only reliable method is to create a test booking and review the resulting pricing, which is both time-consuming and prone to misinterpretation.
This creates challenges when validating package setups, especially when determining whether products are included, excluded, or distributed correctly within the total package rate. Misconfigurations can easily go unnoticed until after the package is already available for booking.
Proposed Solution
Add a pricing preview directly within the Product Rule configuration that provides an estimated breakdown of the package price before the rate is deployed.
Potential approaches:
UI-Based Pricing Preview
Display a real-time breakdown showing:
- Accommodation rate
- Included products/services
- Product pricing contribution
- Total estimated package value
- Distribution of revenue across components
- Allow users to select sample dates and occupancy levels to preview different scenarios.
AI-Powered Estimation
Generate intelligent pricing simulations based on:
- Current accommodation rates
- Product Rule configuration
- Occupancy and date selections
- Highlight potential anomalies or unexpected pricing outcomes before publishing.
Benefits
- Reduces the need for repetitive test bookings.
- Helps Revenue Managers validate package configurations more efficiently.
- Improves transparency around package pricing and revenue distribution.
- Reduces errors related to included/excluded products.
- Increases confidence when creating and modifying package offers.
Expected Outcome
Revenue Managers should be able to understand the expected package price and component breakdown directly from the Product Rule interface, without needing to create test reservations. This would make package creation more intuitive, reduce setup errors, and provide clearer expectations regarding how pricing is distributed across accommodation and ancillary products.
