I would really like it if there were some effective waiting list or some kind of notification when the required dates become available again. When a guest writes to me and requests specific dates, I can either fully refuse, write it down, or make a perhaps optional reservation to overbook. However, when guests request dates that are in a few months, our timeline would easily look like a bloody sea. And to write everything down is impossible with multiple properties and so many requests.

How I imagine this:

A) Guest writes me - we are fully booked - however, somewhere in the system, I can mark that I am waiting for these dates. I can also add a short note. When those dates become available, the system sends me a notification. I can then make an offer and contact the guest again. That data could then be gathered somewhere in one place, which can be regularly checked and cleaned of old requests.

B) There might also be this option from the guest's point of view when booking through our website. They would fill up dates they want and then receive a notification when those dates are available. Let's say that the data would be deleted automatically in one month, so it does not overload the system.

This could also be good for group reservation requests that had to be declined because we already had another group reservation confirmed. In case this confirmed group reservation is cancelled, we could then contact the one we had to reject.
