  1. External systems that have group room blocks typically allow groups to go through a series of statuses that determine whether the blocked rooms should be taken from inventory. This is important as once a hotel promises a number of rooms to a group, it has to make good on that promise.

With the way availability is updated in Mews currently, space categories can be overblocked and cause our users to fail to have all promised rooms available for their guests.

    Example:

    1. Hotel has space category "King Villa" with 10 rooms available for every day in July

    2. External system creates an…

The ability to overbook is intended, so we are unlikely to fully block that. We offer endpoints to pull total remaining availability. Which would allow you to fetch remaining availability before pushing in a new availability block.

  2. Connector API does not have an endpoint for updating an availability block. There are only endpoints for creating (availabilityBlocks/add), deleting (availabilityBlocks/delete) and updating its service availability (services/updateAvailability).

Some reasonable use cases for updating an availability block would be:

    1) Block created for 5 days. After some time the sales person needs to extend the block with, let's say, one day pre and two days post, so the block becomes 8 days long.

    2) Update the release date of the block.

    3) Update the booking notes with some special instructions which has been assigned later.

    4) Update the block's name (in…

  3. Having the Mews Connector working even with Apple devices. To have the fiscal printer connected to Mews, we had to install windows for Mac, and it really slows down the system. I guess many other hoteliers use Apple devices.

Hello from the Mews product team. Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, this request will not be added to the Mews development roadmap and is unlikely to be delivered. Thank you for sharing your suggestions.

We are looking into ways where the Mews Connector could be served in a different approach (cross-platform, server vs user based), but we're unlikley to deliver on that in the short term.

  4. You can not gather some historic information about accounting items:
    - When was it created?
    - When was it last modified?
    - When was it cancelled (/closed)?

  5. Extend the timefilter to have a UPDATED timefilter, so that you can retrieve all accounting items that have been created/modified within a certain timeframe.
This way you can easily fetch for example "give me all items that were changed since yesterday".
Advantage: If you would like to know if there were new accounting items modified/created since the last time you checked, you do not need to get all items for the entire future. That would save a lot of bandwidth and processing (on both server/client side)

  6. When retrieving reservations with the 'Resources' extent the inactive spaces are not included in the response. This means an additional call to resources/getAll to retrieve also the inactive resources.

Adding the inactive resources to reservations/getAll would circumvent this.

  7. There are some endpoints (for example: the /reservations/search endpoint) that allow us to query certain objects like reservations that were created or modified in a certain time interval. If the time interval causes Mews to fetch too many objects, it will return a 408. This can be less straightforward for the caller as the caller does not know in which time interval most creations/modifications happened and the caller will thus keep calling the endpoint until the time interval is finally small enough for the request to succeed. As you can see, this can/will result in several consecutive failing calls which…

  8. Currently, an integration partner can listen to Websocket notifications to receive real time updates on reservations, command, and space events.

    reference: https://mews-systems.gitbook.io/connector-api/websockets

It would be nice to match this in the Webhook options

  9. Currently we are unable to adjust the Inquired status to Optional status via the Connector API. So the connection with Thynk is not working, Optional groups in Thynk are not pushed through to Mews under Inquired status.....this causes imbalance between the systems

  10. API POST parameters:

    • Reservation ID
    • Client Token
    • Access token

Returns link to auto-login for reservation online check-in

    Use Cases:

    • Send scheduled transactional emails for costumers to fill the check-in online.

    • Ops team doesn't have to trigger the email manually via Commander.

    • Push more relevant information inside the email.

    • Don't get emails from a different domain for the online Check-in.

    • Get ownership of the tone in the communications with our clients.

We reopened this request for further upvotes. It is fairly clear what is being requested and it will need more investigation from Mews. In the mean time we would ask you to continue to up vote if this is still a required connectivity feature request.

  11. The new Payment Requests feature is great, would be useful to have the functionality added to the API so you can generate payment requests from integrations.

  12. Hi,
currently outlets have only 3 properties - Id, IsActive and Name. We would utilize one more property named 'ExternalCode' that would make mapping of POS system revenue centers to Mews outlets easier. Currently we need to rely on using the same name of both sides, which is prone to typo error. It could be more reliable if there can be some configurable external numeric code available on Mews side for mapping.

  13. When a POS is sending a product to post in Mews, the product must have an accounting category in the POS and Mews. If there is no accounting category set in POS, then the item as well as any other items in the Cart are not posted in Mews.

In other POS systems, if an accounting category is accidentally not created in the POS, the PMS will accept the product as well as the full cart of items but place the item in a "None" category or "Uncategorized", allowing the charge. Similar to what Channel Managers do with Mews. If…

  14. Most other PMS's (all using HTNG standard and most custom APIs) can provide a simple Date : Room Type : Out of Order count.

    So like:

    2021-06-30: King: 1 OOO
    2021-06-30: Queen: 0 OOO

Mews requires storage of resourceBlocks, mapping of room numbers to resource categories, and storage of unique IDs for every OOO room. This is much more complex than other partners, and would require a whole new inventory architecture to support.

Now that you've added an Adjustments extent: would be great to be able to pull total Out of Order counts by date and by roomtype via getAvailability…

Our API is built on the philosophy of providing raw data only. The API doesn't perform mutations or calculations on that data. The calculations as requested can be done on the side of the API user themselves based on the data we provide.

  15. The field Car registration number in the profile are not accessible in the API.

  16. Integration partners can retrieve the estimated transaction fee via accountingItems/getAll, with CreditCardTransaction extent.

The "Fee" parameter gives the estimated transaction fee value. (https://mews-systems.gitbook.io/connector-api/operations/finance#credit-card-transaction)

However, with the recent feature release of transaction fee adjustments for select properties, the updated fees are not returned, and can cause discrepancy between data in Mews PMS and in other systems (e.g. accounting, business intelligence, etc).

In the exported Payment Report, "Fee total net"/"Fee total" refers to the estimated transaction fee and will be displayed "Fee" parameter in the CreditCardTransaction object. On the other hand, "Adjusted total fee" in the same report refers to…

  17. Currently, an integration partner that uses inventory data (such as Revenue Management systems, Event Management, etc) needs to poll resourceBlocks/getAll and are not able to sync space avilability in real time.

There is already a WebSocket notification when a room/space/resource is make as Out of Service (OOS). Would be great to expand that to cover Out of Order (OOO) and House Use blocks to reduce the need for calling the API regularly to check for created/updated resource blocks.

  18. When getting historic reservation data, such as reservations/getAll it would be great if we could get all states of reservation.

For instance, reservation was created on 10th of July for 10th of August for 30 rooms. It was changed from 30 to 50 rooms on 15 of July. Currently we can only access last state, however getting older state (state of 30 rooms in this example), would be great. This would allow us to recreate historic booking correctly. We can use this booking for creating different machine learning algorithms.

  19. The reservation event messages in the websocket channel are actually not representing events, but state changes. To be able to separate a checkin (state change from Confirmed to Started) from undoing a checkout (state change Processed to Started) I would like to have included the previous state in the event messages, since both of the examples will send only an event with status Started.

  20. Users in Mews can choose from a pre-defined list of reasons when manually cancelling reservations in the reservations module in Mews PMS.

However, when a reservation is cancelled via API, the cancellation reason defaults to "Other".

It would be great to be able to also specify cancellation reason via the API (drawing from the pre-defined list available in Mews) so that integration partners can help keep the reservations reporting as accurate as possible.
