Add neutral gender in online check-in
Is there a possibility to modify the online check in somehow? We got a feedback from one guest that it would be nice to have a possibility to choose gender neutral as a sex and not only male and female. Or can we get the sex question off somehow? Thanks for the help!
Hello all,
This status update is part of our ongoing work to simplify and streamline how our UserVoice feedback forum operates. We are reducing the number of statuses to two (Idea to Upvote + Released) to help manage expectations about where each idea stands and to minimize the number of status updates required from our product teams. Our product team reviews everything you share, and we might reach out for more info if we need it.
Thanks for your patience as we work to bring your ideas to life! You can learn more about the changes coming to UserVoice from this post in the Mews Community.

This idea was added in 2019 and Product Management advised it is unlikely to be delivered despite 126 upvotes. I am reopening this because I cannot accept this reponses.

My response for why this is critical and should not be delivered. Clearly this is a global issue for Mews users and their Guests. As a property that caters to and promotes to the LGBTQ+ community worldwide, the fact that in the 21st Century we are offered Mr, Mrs, or a blank is appalling. It does not demonstrate inclusivity, suggests marginalized communities are not seen or appreciated, and fails to deliver on Mews users' Diversity, Equality, and Inclusivity business objectives.
To read that this is unlikely to be delivered causes me to wonder whether I chose the best PMS provider.

Hi,I believe it's urgent to add Mx. and/or gender neutral options to reflect our world's diversity and make our guests fell included!

Time to change! 🏳🌈 Add other genders and titles, for example "Mx".

I brought this up as well as we have had LGTB+ training on Booking.com and it is not a big change of system to accommodate anybody who doesn't feel comfortable for whatever reason to choose meal or female.
Either take away the field as compulsory or ideally have an I'd rather not specify selection, this is actually great for stats as we can then find out how many of our guests do not want to specify gender.

Dear mews team, this option is really overdue nowadays. It's 2021!!
We get the question/remak quite often! -

Hi Mews, organisations are finally making massive steps when it comes to diversity & inclusion programs. Let the hospitality industry not fall behind. The options should be available nowadays.

We need to have more options and not only other such as ‘Prefer not to say’ and ‘Mx’

YES! YES! YES!

We should be able to add more fields and not only other
For example ‘Prefer not to say’ and ‘Mx’
This is a really important feature for us - we are an inclusive hotel and need to reflect that across our website, and booking form -

Absolutely agree that there needs to be another option apart from male/female, it's 2020 and if anything we or MEWS should be the first to make this feature available within the system.

Why do we ask the gender anyway ? Get rid of this feature.

Is this feature going to be updated soon? Please add gender neutral option. It's very important option in this modern hospitality world.

We got this email today from a guest.
Hello, in the time between when I made my booking and now, I came out as a transgender woman and I now use a new name: Sarina. My name and gender have not been legally changed as this is a very recent development. However I was just doing the online check in and the thought of having to put ‘Male’ in the ‘***’ box makes me feel sick and anxious. I understand the name needs to be the same as on my ID but would it be okay to put ‘***’ as ‘Female’? I don’t want to feel more dysphoria
As i have mentioned before, I believe our system should be able to be a more inclusive one. That doesn't exclude non-binary folks or as Sarina states, give anyone gender dysphoria. This is customer service after all and we want to make all our guests feel valued and at home. This sets off on a bad foot before they have even stepped through the door and needs to be changed. A third option should be available like it is with Gov't websites and many others too.

In profiles. I don't know if this is where I should send it.

There are changes for profile in the release notes of 30 may: Gender is replacing Title. To get it in the online check-in we need to have the third gender (maybe "X" like Travelport or "divers" like the german government is doing it?) in the Mews customer profiles please.
