So.. this has now been on the roadmap for 2,5 years. Any idea when we could expect this to be implemented?

Would be great to have the option to give certain roles the option to overrule restrictions. This is now only possible on rate, but would be good if some people in the team could override a restriction as well.

When an MLS restriction is applied for a long period — for example, a restriction that blocks arrivals on Fridays unless the stay is at least two nights — it can unintentionally block availability.

If this restriction is set for the entire year, it may block certain Fridays where, for instance, Thursday is already booked and Saturday is also unavailable. In that case, the two-night condition can’t be met, and the Friday becomes unbookable.

To avoid this, there should be an option to override or modify the restriction on individual dates. That way, if you notice a blocked Friday in the future due to this rule, you can remove or adjust the restriction for just that specific day — without having to delete the entire yearly restriction.

For example, if someone selects to check-in on a Saturday for a two night stay, the system should automatically know that the Friday before no longer adheres to the two-night minimum and should allow that specific Friday to sell as a one-night stay.

Right now, you have to manually go in and override the current restrictions for ever single date that this has happened to. The algorithm should be smart enough to know when you can sell a one night stay. Without this, you could potentially be losing out on critical revenue.

Our work-around is a non-refundable and flexible duplicate rate with no restrictions that the front desk can use in those cases. Works quite easy. Maybe this can help in the meantime? Kind Regards, Anja

The work around for this is crazy making and makes us want to move to a new system. We MUST have the ability to override a 2 night minimum for one reservation. Especially when there's one night open sandwiched between a check-out and a check-in. It's unbelievable that this isn't available.

Overriding restrictions should be a basic feature. Currently we utilize a 24h advance window, so our housekeeping team has time to react to bookings made by guests online. This shouldn't restrict reception from making a reservation for a walk-in guest. This has never been an issue with other systems. There should be different restrictions for customer portal and staff.

until Mews has dealt with the issue(hopefully soon), you may be better off with this trick.
If we have difficulties with the minimum stay, we first book for the longer period and then change the reservation to the desired date. This way there is no restriction from Mews.
It's not nice, but you don't have to deal with the restrictions.

Any update? Im dealing with this myself and its very frustrating. I have to make a reservation with the fear someone else books, make the reservation with the speed of lightning and put my strategies Back in place ( correctly). I want to be able to override for special requests or vips without adjusting my strategies!!!

With restrictions for certain events, companies approach us directly.If there is a restriction, i have to delete it (hope no one books in the mean time) make the reservation with the speed of lightening and restrict everything again.

Why cant there be a note : date restricted do you wish to override for a reservation? As owner i want to be able to override the restriction to send offers/ make a reservation to clients without deleting the restriction. shouldnt I be able to decide wether to wave the restriction in favor of certain reservations? Rather than deleting all the strategies, and re-instating them again

Wir haben dafür eine separate Rate angelegt und fügen die Restriktion nur ein bei den Raten die Online buchbar sind. Vielleicht hilft das. VG

Fände ich auch sehr wichtig, dass es zumindest bei gewissen Userlevels hinterlegt werden kann dass die Restriktion umgangen wird.

Vielleicht könnte man das wirklich in den Benutzerberechtigungen so hinterlegen?

Sobald eine Restriktion gesetzt ist, kann man auch als Mitarbeiter keine Buchung mehr eingeben. Eine Funktion, die dieses möglich macht, wäre praktisch. Denn manchmal soll nur für extern gesperrt werden, aber intern können Zimmer vergeben werden (zum Beispiel bei exklusiven Veranstaltungen). Jetzt muss man immer die Restriktion löschen, ganz schnell die Buchung einpflegen und dann wieder schnell die Restriktion eingeben damit online nicht gebucht wird. Das ist mühsam und eindeutig ein Mehraufwand.

THIS IS SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO CRITICAL TO OUR BUSINESS WE NEED THIS IMPLEMENTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!!! We are a small, unique, world famous and very small bed & breakfast with a limited space. Because of this, we have multiple restrictions in place. It is an absolute headache to approve a single night stay instead of our normal 2-night minimum. We have had to create hundreds of restrictions in the Mews booking engine just to accommodate 2 booking rules that we have in place. None of us have ever worked with any type of management software in any workplace where employees or at least managers do not have the power to override the rules of the system. It's mind blowing how any hotel can operate with a system that doesn't even give the General Manager the power to override the booking rules that any overnight guest must follow. This inflexibility creates a stoppage for our business and loses us a lot of revenue. If we had known that this wouldn't be an option we may have gone in another direction because an override capability is ESSENTIAL for us to operate and generate maximum revenue.

I limit the ability to book more than 360 in advance as we have MANY guests that book year after year. We found that people that wanted stay here were trying to book rooms out from under current guests so we limited the availability online to stop this from happening. By making this restriction we have made it so reservations can not book our current guests either. In addition we do not do same day booking on the internet. We have made it so you can not book same day on the web but, if we decide to book a reservation for same-day we can not either. In my opinion, as we have been able to do with other PMS systems, when I choose to override something in the main booking system, here in house, I can. In most things I get a message asking if I am sure I want to do this and I can check yes.

Is there maybe a work-around for this, like maybe a rate group that I can create, that does not have any restrictions but can only be seen by someone working in Mews Operations/Commander?

It is vital that we have the option to open up a particular room/room space for one night sale on our website, so that when bookings leave one night unsold, between two bookings, the room can be made available for sale.

This is a key feature missing - what a pain to disable restrictions everytime I need to book something I don't want available to the general public.

This is a must have. We canno't have the front desk staff make temporary restrictions changes to accomodate particular guess while they do not have the knowledge and the Mews access rights required to do so. This should not be a part of their job but they should be able to make reservations bypassing the restrictions if a specific situation require them to do so. For instance, in our case, there is a 24h+ booking window restriction. But if a customer physically show up on site and we have the capacity to accept them, the front desk staff is unable to do so. They need to send a request to our IT team to change the restrictions temporarily etc.
