  1. Currently, stay products are posted on bills on the day of a guest's checkout, however, this can complicate the billing process for some properties. Therefore, splitting stay products per night and listing them on day of consumption could be very helpful for clarity and also for reporting, as revenue per day would be visible in Accounting and Manager reports.

Stay products are now posted on the date they’re consumed. All existing products have been replaced with products with the updated settings. Any products posted to an existing, future reservation were also updated to the new posting settings.

How do you like the feature so far and do you have any ideas for the future?

  2. City taxes amount is different between adults and children, and among children based on their age.
Would be useful to create a rule that recognises the different kind of partecipants and their age among children, showing, then, the different amounts due

  5. Final price in Mews booking engine does not provide enough transparency to guest of what does it consist from. That leads to several problems:

    1. guests complain about additional charges when products are added by product rule on the background
    2. in multi-tax environments, the final price is sometimes inflated by taxes and fees which are added by product rules. Guest is not aware that price already include that which makes properties to look more expensive than competition
    3. In single-tax environments, city taxes are posted as products. In order to stay competitive, property doesn't include them in price. Guests are later complaining…

  6. MEWS calculates prices with and without VAT per product and presents them per product on the invoice.

At the end of the invoice MEWS presents the summary of the prices with and without VAT per VAT.

On huge invoices the calculated and presented total price without VAT is not the same as the summary of the presented prices without VAT per product due rounding differences.

Guests/companies/ accounting are complaining about this.

THEREFORE PLEASE ADJUST and do not present the price per product without VAT per product. (only VAT in %, amount and price with VAT)

    OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
    Show VAT &…

  8. When changing the number of people in a booking if you select KEEP OLD PRICE, the system will change the city tax and add the difference to the room price. Please change this so that the price of the room is not changed, the city tax has nothing to do with room night prices.

  9. City tax is very complicated and often includes several conditions and limitations that are specific to each legal environment. Currently, each property must be careful to apply this city tax according to their own legal requirements, however integrating this knowledge into each Legal Environment within Mews could help simplify many processes, as tax would be automatically applied or deducted where necessary.

  10. In the US, upon arrival the hotel puts hold (pre-authorizes) the guest card for certain amount/night (it's usually a flat rate). They keep the money on hold and when the guest exceeds their spending (restaurant, spa charges etc that they put on their room), the system should then pre-authorize additional amount. It's like credit the hotel holds for the spending of the guest during their stay.

In other PMS systems you can program the amount either per day (i.e. $50.00 per day on top of the room & tax) or per stay flat rate (i.e. $150.00 per stay). Then, as…

  11. Allow properties to display only net rate prices in their rate management screen, reservation creation screen in Commander, Distributor booking engine, etc. This is a global tax setting in the Mews Commander and gross rate prices will not be shown in most sections of the system. Taxes would be added on top of the net price at the time that the booking is created.

  13. Some guests have valid government documents which exempt them from paying any lodging taxes, etc. (VAT etc). There should be some checkbox that allows for the room rate to stay fixed but no taxes to be posted as liabilities.

There should be a separate report of such reservations per month as well.

Or if you need details in some countries, give us the possibility to choose the presentation style

  15. It would be interesting to be able to enter the tourist tax with a unit or relative amount for adults, and to have the possibility of setting exemption categories such as: "children under the age of 12, invaled, police, etc.". also have the possibility to insert a period of applicability for seasonal hotels (Sea, Mountain).

  16. Must be splited on three different levels and presented to the guest with split details. Paris for instance :

"Town" tax : 5% per night
    "Departemental" tax : +10%
    "Local" tax : +15%

Stay tax must be automatically deducted for under 18 years old

  18. To expand on the new Group Blocks feature, I would love a simple Group Block Agreement form/report that summarizes the number of rooms blocked, the dates associated with the rooms and the nightly (pre-tax) rooms rate.

It would have a customizable "terms" section where we can note cancelation policies, block release date etc and have a signature page for the client to sign.

Right now we have to generate this outside of Mews, which creates additional work. Happy to send you a sample of what we are looking for!

    Thanks for listening!

    Hello Stacy,

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback with us. If you are able to share an example, that would be very helpful for us to understand the information you envision being added to a block.

Which types of groups would you typically add "terms' for? For example corporates or leisure.

  19. In some cases rates are offered/contracted including city tax. It would be nice if reservations department can select a rate with city tax already included instead of having to calculate and deduct the city tax (which in our case is dependent on the number of guests and booked meals) from the rate first.
