Reassign Reservation Spaces
I would like it if Mews could reassign reservations to a different space if it could open up another reservation. I have a couple of niche uses for this at my property but can think of a few ways other properties may use it too.
My property has 22 rooms with 22 space categories because our guests like to book their favorite room and we want to cater to that. I have a few rooms that would work really well as desk space because they are big and I can lock the bedroom doors to prevent their use if it was reserved as a day-use office space. When I was trying to set this up in my demo, I had my Stay service set with 22 space categories and spaces and my Day-Use setup with 1 space category assigned to 3 of my spaces that are also used for Stays. What I found is the Day-Use would be randomly assigned when the reservation is booked and when I would try to book a Stay using the category that only works for the room that the Day-Use is randomly assigned to, it would show as unavailable. What I would have liked it to do is recognize that the Day-Use room had other spaces it could be moved to, show the Stay as being available, and move the Day-Use reservation if a Stay for that space is booked. It would only prevent bookings when Day-Use reservations could no longer be moved.
Another use case unique to my property would be to have 5 of my queen rooms that have similar features available both to reserve the specific room or offering a lower rate to book a queen room type that assigns a queen room randomly and hopefully I could book a few more rooms than I am able to now, since the current system leaves me with single night gaps between reservations that leave me unable to book multi-night stays. Same issue as above, and of course this works best if an update came out that also let me have multiple categories from the same service.
This feature would also make a run-of-house room category functional, which I think a lot of properties would use if they had it as an option. Run of house is most commonly used to offer the best possible discount to a transient guest or business rate. You could also get creative and do a version of run-of-house for a VIP comp stay. Say you have three premium space categories and each only has a limited number of spaces. If you want to give your VIP a nice room but don't want to limit available rooms to paying guests, you could group those three nice rooms together and assign the VIP to that category, thereby guaranteeing a nice room is held for the VIP but keeping those rooms available for paying guests until the day of arrival when you might hard assign the rooms. This would also be best used if in addition to reassigning spaces Mews also allowed multiple categories per service per space.
TLDR: This feature (and multiple categories from the same service) would add a lot of flexibility for properties to make the most of their space.
