  1. Automatic settlement is a great tool for automating payment collection from guests, however it is not currently possible to apply more than one settlement rule. Properties may rather prefer to add several rules that work together for a custom payment scheme. For example, take 20% of payment upon creation, 30% one week before arrival, and the remaining 50% on the reservation start date.

  2. iDEAL is an online payment solution with a direct online transfer from your bank account to the bank account of the Mews property. It is the most used payment method in the Netherlands.

    We’re delighted to share the news that now you can configure Mews to let guests pay with iDEAL!

    To learn more and get started with iDEAL check out this guide – https://help.mews.com/en/articles/5179046-enable-ideal-as-an-alternative-payment-method.

    Once the above is done, your guests will see iDEAL as a payment method in the booking engine, payment requests & online check-out. You can take advantage of convenient, automated payment processing with a real-time overview and central reconciliation.

  3. Paypal is one of the leading payment systems worldwide. A direct integration with Paypal would enable the support of online money transfers as payments in Mews, providing as an electronic alternative to traditional payment methods.

  4. A creditcard machine connected to a PC will help to save time and faults at the front desk.
    When connected, all transactions on the credit card machine have to be generated in MEWS. So will be linked on a Product all the time.
    You generate automatically the right profit and charge the costumer for the right amount.

    Met een gekoppelde pin terminal aan de receptie PC scheelt dit tijd en voorkomt eventuele fouten bij de recepties.
    Als deze is gekoppeld worden alle transacties aangemaakt in MEWS. Dan zal er altijd een Product gekoppeld moeten worden. Zodat je de juiste omzet…

  5. People are using the same credit card for different profiles (fraudulent bookings). We want to blacklist a credit card.

  6. Slowly the Chinese market is getting bigger and bigger for Dutch hotels. Not only in Amsterdam, but everywhere in the Netherlands. The most used payment solution are Wechatpay and Alipay. This will bring a great improvement in the guest experience.

  7. We welcome guest that stay more than a week inside our properties. Preauthorizations get cancelled automatically after 7 days which creates an issue for us, in case of broken furnitures in the property or unpaid bills. For this purpose we should be able to create preauthorizations of more than 7 days.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    The reason for us holding the 7 days preauthorization is because the usual time frame for holding a pre-authorization before either capture or releasing of the funds can range between 7-14 days from time of processing the pre-auth. Also, the time the pre-authorization is held prior to capture is up to the issuing bank to determine and it’s at the total discretion of the issuing bank, unfortunately.

    But I am moving the feedback to the level of the “idea to upvote” and keeping it open for any additional upvote, discussion, or add on you might have!

It would be very helpfull to have a option to send a secured payment link to guests or companies, this In order to avoid chargebacks and makes it easier for external companies or persons to pay someones reservation via credit/debit card. This also helps whenever a guest doesnt have the credit card of they room payment with him.
    Like this you fraude can be eliminated.

    Payment request is friendly and convenient way how to collect payments from your guests or bookers.   9. Many properties prefer to take payment card details at check-in but to then charge all accommodation fees at the time of checkout. Therefore, it is very important that these card details are accurately and securely stored. With the capability to automatically transfer card details to customer profile, properties can help reduce human error and also ensure that guests feel their information is protected.

    Hi all,

    Thanks to the current feedback, we decided to move back this idea to be upvoted.

    We did release Mews Terminals, however, due to security reasons, we will not store that card for future use.

    Most of the upvotes mentioned that they’d like that functionality – even though the current Mews terminal is a huge step towards automation – providing the possibility to charge or pre-authorize a card without the need to ask a guest to give you card details & where you’d need to type in manually back information to Mews…

    Looking forward to hearing more about this!

  10. Mews sends automatically a charge mail to the mail address in the customer profile (for a physical card). But the card holder may be different e.g. a travel agency) and the customer is not supposed to knox the net price. Therefor it would be helpful to have a tick box on the charge screen: "Do not send charge mail to the client".

  14. When a payment is successful, than the guest receives an e-mail to inform him. Many of them than request the invoice for that amount. Please also send the concerning invoice with the e-mail together.

  15. "For chains, it is helpful that customer profiles are shared between properties, however some of that data is not always included. Payment card information would be especially helpful to include in shared profiles, as it will keep records more complete and prevent properties for asking guests each time."

  16. Since credit card fees are often inevitable, you could eliminate some of these costs by including an extra percentage cost for customers who choose to pay by card. One solution is to extend your Merchant with automatic credit card surcharge fees, which would cover the cost of any extra unwanted fees and help manage your property's revenue goals.

    Happy to announce that surcharging is released in Australia and New Zealand, now you can set up fees by yourself and recover expensive payment card costs!

  17. When a booking is made we would like to link it to the reservation the guest made the payment for. Now if a guest makes more bookings we can not see which bookings are paid yet. we can only see what the total amount is

  18. At times we have reservations from where at the moment of booking the credit card is valid, however it expires prior of their arrival.
    We cannot accept reservations with an expired credit card since we then cannot collect payment. For security reasons we also do not prefer to take cc over the phone or by email. Is there is a way that the guest can get a notification that when they book their stay with us, the credit card will expire prior of arrival and to use a different card.

  19. When a guest enters new credit card details (for example because we couldn't charge their credit card and asked them to provide another one), it would be helpful if MEWS gave us a notification. We now manually have to check if new details were entered.
